The biggest bar and widest cocktail selection at this year's DStv Delicious Festival 

Renowned Scotch whisky brand, Johnnie Walker has taken the whisky game by storm. The brand’s notion on less talk more walk has definitely been evident in their activation at this year’s DStv Delicious Festival hosting the biggest bar at the festival and serving whisky in a presumably unconventional way in branded Johnnie Walker festival-friendly jugs. TV personality, Andile Ncube, was spotted amongst other personalities shaking up her favourite Johnnie Walker cocktail and engaging with consumers at the whisky mentorship sessions hosted by the brand as part of their festival activations.

 

 

Thandeka Matsoha, Senior Brand Manager at Johnnie Walker SA comments that, “Johnnie Walker showcased its innovative spirit at the DStv Delicious Festival where attendees got a chance to interact with the brand in a way that they are not accustomed to. The brand’s Pocket Scotch lead as a serving choice as it is not only compact and portable but also stylish, making it an ideal festival serve. The brand Johnnie Walker is all about pushing boundaries and encourages consumers to do the same.”

In addition to the world class activation, festival goers were able to enjoy an exclusive whisky mentorship session courtesy of the Johnnie Walker brand and got to engage with brand influencers as they enjoyed tasting notes of the Johnnie Walker product mix. 

 

The Johnnie Walker brand continues to motivate consumers to push their boundaries and to continuously Keep Walking through their innovative and progressive activations and campaigns similar to this DStv Delicious Festival alignment. This comes off the back of the brand’s first ever Whisky Meet Polo Masterclass event which was positioned to showcase exactly that. The brand promises much more alignments and partnerships of this nature, that will challenge the whisky industry and go beyond the perceived norms.

HOUSE OF WALKER COCKTAILS

 

Johnnie Walker Blue Label – The Whisky Sour 
•    Johnnie Walker Blue 
•    Lemon Juice
•    Sugar syrup
•    Cellulose

Method:

Shake Johnnie Walker Blue, add lemon juice, sugar syrup and cellulose over ice, then dry shake and strain into a tumbler filled with cubed ice.

 

Johnnie Walker Gold Label – The Grocer
•    Johnnie Walker Gold 
•    Lemon juice 
•    Vanilla syrup
•    Harrismith apple juice
•    Soda water 
•    Orange zest

Method:

Shake Johnnie Walker Gold, lemon juice, vanilla syrup and harrismith apple juice then strain into an ice filled tall glass. Top with soda water and garnish with and arrange zest. 

 

Johnnie Walker Black – A Taste of Summer 
•    Johnnie Walker black
•    Lemon juice 
•    Cellulose 
•    Black pepper 
•    Vanilla syrup
•    Angostura bitters
•    Dehydrated Fig

Method: 

Shake and double strain Johnnie Walker Black, add lemon juice, cellulose, black pepper and vanilla syrup into a tumbler, with a dash of angostura bitters over the top and garnish with a dehydrated Fig. 

 

Johnnie Walker Red Label – The Fruity Johnnie Red
•    Johnnie Walker Red
•    Pear syrup
•    Lemonade 
•    Pear fan 

Method: 

Pour two tots of Johnnie Walker Red, a half shot of pear syrup in a tall glass over cubed ice. Top up the drink with lemonade and garnish with a pear fan
