Known for her effortless style and superlative red carpet fashion looks, reality television star, model and business woman Blue Mbombo is getting ready to turn heads at this year’s International Nedbank Polo. Set to make her much anticipated appearance at the Tanqueray Gin Garden, the fashion maven sits down with us as she gives us some intel on how she gets ready for one of the most prestigious equestrian fixtures on Johannesburg’s social calender.

From hair, to make up, all the way to the perfect dress, here’s how the Dutchess will leave fashion spectatators “Green with Envy”.

“Preparing for the Polo is always an exciting yet a tricky feeling for me, simply because it’s always a debate on “how to get it right.” Striking a balance between understated and overdressed is a battles for me, especially because I don’t do minimalistic well.” said Blue. “The Polo is one event which many believe that your dress code must be as minimal as possible, however, I believe as with everything, if you get the foundation right, you’re able to add on or take off items and incorporate trends of the season to achieve the perfect Polo look.”

My go to essentials to ensure that I am Polo ready for the Tanqueray Gin Garden are:
1. Outfit
Again for this Polo, my outfit will be nothing close to minimal. My designer Scalo and I are following the theme: Green with envy. So it will definitely be turning heads.
2. Makeup
Because it’s a day event, the makeup will be nothing dramatic but very fresh, using summer colors.
3. Hats
There are no rules about headwear but straw hats are usually the go to for the polo. I usually wear hats for the Polo not because I must but just for the sun protection.
4 Shoes
Block heels and wedges are the general rule for the Polo. I would not want to ruining my expensive shoes and sinking into the grass the whole day.
5. Accessories
This is an area where I show off and have the most fun. From the latest designer eyewear, on trend summer bags, earrings etc.
